
SHEEMA– The Electoral Commission has released the electoral programme for by-election of Member of Parliament for Sheema North Constituency, Sheema District.
According to the programme, the Commission will begin with the National Voters’ Register update from 30th August to 3rd September 2018, at update stations in each of the twenty (20) parishes in Sheema North Constituency.
The Commission has appointed Monday 3rd September 2018 as the cut-off date for registration of voters in the Constituency.
The released agenda also indicates that registration and transfer of voters from one polling station to another within Sheema North will not be conducted after this date.
There will be display of the National Voters’ Register from 17th to 26th September 2018, at all the sixty five (65) polling stations in Constituency.
It further shows that the nomination of candidates will be conducted for a period of two days, Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th September 2018 at Sheema District Headquarters.
According to the programme, Campaign meetings for candidates for shall be held from 21st September to 6th October 2018.
Polling for Member of Parliament shall take place on Monday 8th October 2018 at all polling stations in Constituency, and shall start at 7:00am and close at 4:00pm.
The Sheema North Constituency Parliamentary seat fell vacant following the resignation of the former Member of Parliament, Hon. Elioda Tumwesigye who relinquished it in favour of the municipality.
