
LUGAZI– The Judiciary is in sock after a police guard of a judge was found dead.
Last Thursday Police Constable Joseph Wandera a father of two children was said to have committed suicide in a small room at the residence of Justice Henry Kaweesa Isabirye in Lugazi.
When contacted on telephone to know the main cause of the officer taking his own life, the Senior Communications Officer of the Judiciary, Mr Solomon Muyita said that it is not yet known and investigations by police have not yet pointed out inklings.
Mr Muyita says that before the police guard who was deployed to watch over the judge’s home during day time had reported in the morning for duty, however he hanged himself at around 11:00Am in the small room near the gate.
Wandera left behind a small note where he had written a telephone number of his mother he named as Nafula and requested however came across his body to call her.
According to information established by PML Daily, Wandera’s sister also committed suicide sometime back.
This comes hardly in three weeks after a policewoman guard of another judge, Musa Sekaana, shot and killed the judge’s driver Ismail Mayiga at his Muyenga following a “sex joke”.
Police Spokesman, Emilian Kayima, confirmed the incident, adding that the policewoman immediately handed herself to the Police, saying the gunshot was accidental.
Police’s preliminary investigations indicated that the driver was shot in the stomach shortly after he reported for duty at the judge’s residence. He was announced dead upon arrival at the International Hospital Kampala, where he had been rushed for medical attention.
