ENTEBBE- Uganda Wildlife Education Centre authorities in Entebbe woke up to a bitter scene Thursday morning after a visiting U.S citizen committed suicide in Entebbe zoo hostel where he had stayed for six days.
A source told PML Daily that James Lakin Crow, visited the zoo with his parents a week ago, and they entrusted their 21-year-old son with a caretaker who was to watch over him after he had asked his parents to grant him his wish of learning and becoming an animal caretaker.
Employees at the zoo restaurant who preferred anonymity said James on Wednesday evening drowned himself in hard liquor with no one to control him.
PML Daily has also learnt that the young man was an alcohol addict and had also suffered severe depression for quite some time while in the United States, the reason his parents decided to agree to his demands and wishes to come to Uganda to become an animal caretaker in the hope that he would become a better man.
Luke Oweyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the murder, he, however, told this reporter that police is still investigating the incident.
The body has been taken to Mulago Hospital for post-mortem from where it will later be flown back to the United States for burial.
