
SHEEMA -Ms Naome Kibaaju is the NRM party flag bearer for the Sheema North parliamentary seat vacated by Dr Elioda Tumwesigye after she defeated four candidates in a tight race.
In the election conducted on Thursday, Kibaaju, who contested for the Sheema District Woman MP seat in 2016, garnered 10,747 (56.14 percent) votes, followed by Mr Guma Nuwagaba, who polled 6 290 votes (32.86 percent). Mr
Frank Owoyesigire got 891 votes, Mr Arthur Mugisha 635 votes and Mr Willis Muhereza got 353 votes.
She was declared winner by NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi.
The seat fell vacant after Dr Tumwesigye run for the newly created municipality seat which he won on July 27.
However, Mr Nuwagaba, who is also the Mitooma RDC protested the results, saying there was harassment of his polling agents and ballot stuffing.
He promised to meet his supporters on Saturday and decide the next course of action.
