
LAMWO – Four guns were on Monday stolen from Agoro Police Station under unclear circumstances.
Unknown people on Monday broke into the Agoro Police Station armoury in Lamwo District and made off with the guns according to Aswa River Region Police spokesman, Jimmy Patrick Okema.
Okema said the police is investigating the incident adding the details of the stolen guns as; PK UGPOL 256399, AK47 UGPOL 563619898, AK47 UGPOL 05148-07506, and AK47 UGPOL 5659019553-30643.
He said the five police officers who were on duty have been arrested and detained at Banabana UPDF detach in Madi Opei, Kitgum District.
The suspects are Corporal Mundura Yerusa, the officer in charge of the station, Erikson Ojok a former crime preventer, Evelyn Aguminaitwe a police constable, Muya Zekeriah a constable and his wife Janet Arut. He said some suspects may be hiding in Gulu or within Kitgum.
However, today at 2:00a.m one of the guns, number AK47 UGPOL 5659019553-30643 with 30 rounds has been recovered from a suspected robber who attempted to rob one, Scovia Ayaa at a drinking joint in East Ward A in Kitgum Municipality.
The guns theft case has been registered at Lamwo Police station under CRB 019/2018 and case of attempted murder has been registered under SD 04/19/09/2018 at Kitgum police station.
Okema appealed to the public to be vigilant and report suspicious people moving with guns, because such thugs steal guns to commit crimes.
