MBARARA– Mbarara regional referral hospital have received consignment of assorted theater medical equipment.
These will help boost medical services in the hospital, especially in theaters and maternity wards.
The machines include a ventilator to help babies who are born with complications in breathing, four diathermy machines which are going to be used by neurologists in theatres to control over breeding,, two weighing scales and two vital sign monitor machines.
According to Prof. Kitya David the neurologist at the hospital, the hospital has been having challenges in the theaters especially when operating patients with head complications, “but since these have come from Duke Medical University in USA as donation, it will helps to back up the one that we had because sometimes they would break down and remain with nothing to control breeding of patients.”
Dr. Barigye Celestine the hospital Director while receiving these machines on Friday evening said that these are very expensive machines which cost approximately sh100m which cannot be afforded by the hospital.
“I, therefore, warn all those who will be operating these machines to handle them with care to ensure that we reduce on the mortality rate of patients in the hospital, like the ventilator it if a patients or any age gets breathing complications, this machine can be put on him/her and keep pushing Oxgyen into the lungs for even more than years, this will supplement on other life support machines that we have.”
