
KAMPALA – Kampala Minister Betty Namisango Kamya has Friday March 29, explained plans by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to celebrate women for their role in the development of the city.
Addressing journalists at Uganda Media Centre (UMC) in Kampala, the minister said women make up more than half of Kampala City’s Population and that KCCA recognised the important role women play in development of the city.
“This day is specifically put aside to celebrate women here in Uganda. It’s to prepare women to take part in those jobs and activities done by mainly men,” she said.
The day will be held at Kololo Airstrip on April 10, according to minister.
At this particular celebration of women, she said there will be vending, women who have done extraordinarily work will be giving guests testimonies among other activities.
The day will be graced by President Yoweri Museveni who will also be the guest of honour.
