
MAKERERE – The Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe has on Wednesday 6, March 2019 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a leading private university in Malaysia to foster collaborations in the areas of oil and gas as well as renewable energy.
Prof. Nawangwe was joined by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Finance and Administration, Prof. William Bazeyo and the Director of Legal Affairs, Mr. Henry Mwebe.

The MoU was signed on behalf of UTP by the Registrar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azrai HJ Abdullah and witnessed by the Manager, Admission and Records, Mohd Khalid Bin Ka’ab.
Under the MoU, UTP will be offering Makerere University with two PhD scholarship per year in the field of energy. UTP is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the National oil and gas company of Malaysia.
