MBARARA – Mbarara Municipality authorities could not contain the pressure that was mounted on to them by a section of Ankore people over the new designs at Mbarara roundabout, and have started to remove one by one.
Since Monday, March 25, when the implementation of new designs started to be affected, members of the public took to social media condemning the authorities led by mayor Robert Kakyebezi by demanding him to reinstate the original cow.
By the end of Tuesday, March 26, the same campaign had gone viral on social media with some people printing out T-shirts in a campaign dubbed “#Restore Rusiina” to intensify pressure and express their dissatisfaction on the new designs.
Wednesday, March 27, the contractors of Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies Limited which had been contracted to beautify Mbarara Town were seen removing some of the cow-like monument.
The public demanded that all the lights resembling the head of an Ankole cow should be removed.
