MBARARA – Following the decision by NRM’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) a top party organ to endorse President Yoweri Museveni as a sole candidate in the 2021 national polls, NRM party diehards from the district of western Uganda have formed a Nyekundire Task Force to popularize and ensure that Museveni returns for another term.
The Reward M7 2021 Nyekundire Group comprises of more than 300 members from 30 districts from western Uganda. The Group has selected 15 NRM members in each district to counteract the Opposition.
In their letter to the President, the Group says there is increasing agitation for change in the country characterized by lies, defiance and other forms of propaganda.
Speaking at their first meeting attended, by RDCs from the said districts in Mbarara Town on Monday, March 4, Mr. Bron Kikanshemeza, the chairman of the Group from Kagadi District, noted that there are visible bad elements that are strategizing at all levels to change leadership which they cannot allow.
He said: “We have started preparing our voices loud to counter these bad elements in cheering Museveni for another term as an NRM sole candidature come 2021.”
Mr. Kikanshemeza further noted that there is an increasing attack on Museveni on social media and other mainstream media hence the need to form a counterforce.
“We have designed a holistic programme to attract desperate and negative youth, women and the elderly to bring them in our favour to vote for His Excellence (President Museveni) come 2021,” he said.
Dr. Nathan Karema, the patron of the Group noted: “The group realizes that the Opposition has spread harmful political propaganda and lies to the public without counteraction from NRM…this Group is prepared not to let this continue especially when we are nearing elections.”
