MAGERE – Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has Monday, April 22 been driven to his Magere-based home in Wakiso district by the Police.
Bobi Wine whose Easter Monday concert at his Busabala based One Love beach has been blocked and his promoters arrested was driven home after hours of confrontation with the police which had an army back up.
The singer turned motor-mouthed politician and now an opponent of long serving President Yoweri Museveni, is at war with the Police for stopping his concerts, a source of his livelihood.
Hundreds of his supporters and a number some MPs including Francis Zaake and Allan Ssewanyana had headed to Busabala protesting police brutality and intimidation.
Police had warned the musician not to hold any concerts citing failure to adhere to some guidelines set out in the Public Order Management act.
Police then surrounded Bobi Wine’s vehicle and towed it for a few metres before breaking one of its windows, threw in a tear gas cannister and swiftly whisked him away to unknown destination.
However, information from his camp, the singer has been driven home.
To ensure their directives were heeded to, the Police and army deployed at Busabala and many other strategic junctions heading to the beach including Kibuye, Masajja and Kibuye- Busabala road.
