
MUKONO – Rally driver Ponsiano Lwakataka was re-arrested when he had come for a court hearing in a case he is accused of maliciously destroying property in Kiwanga, Goma Division in Mukono Municipality.
Mr. Lwakataka and his brother Ssekitoleko appeared on
April 4, before Grade One Magistrate H/W Patience Koburunga to hear the evidence against him on breaking people’s homes.
He was arrested for failing to appear in court when he was summoned by the court in Mukono.
When he finally appeared on Thursday, April 4, he was arrested.
Mr. Lwakataka is accused of destroying Ms. Joselyn Namayanja’s property and breaking her leg which he denied early this year.
Efforts to get him released on bail by his family were all in vain. He was taken to Kauga Prison handcuffed on at around 5 pm.
Mr. Lwakataka was first arrested at the beginning of this year after breaking of people’s houses who are said to be owners of the land.
It said that on January 12, 2019, at 4 pm, Mr. Lwakataka and his unidentified friends attacked people in Kiwanga village and destroyed their property.
Mr. Lwakataka and others are fighting over a two-acre land.
Mr. Lwakataka has been remanded till Tuesday, April 9.
