KAMPALA – Former Kampala Metropolitan commander ACP Siraje Bakaleke is wanted by Police to answer charges of abuse of office.
According to a public notice issued Monday, April 29 by Uganda Police, signed by the Force’s spokesman Fred Enanga on behalf of the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola, ACP Bakaleke is wanted by the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court for “offences of abuse of office, conspiracy to defraud and kidnapping with intent to confine a person…”
The document further says Mr. Bakaleke is wanted for “conspiracy to commit a felony of the Anti-Corruption Division Kampala, criminal case number 0095/2018 and AVIPOL CRB 047/2018”.
Mr. Bakaleke has eluded the Force and the court for some months now.
Mr. Enanga said: “Police appeals to whoever has any information which may lead to his arrest and prosecution to pass it in confidence to the nearest Police Station or ring telephone numbers 0715411674, 0712667713 and 0715354978.”
Last year, Mr. Bakaleke was arrested on allegations of obtaining $400,000 from three Korean investors who were in Uganda for business deals in connivance with an unidentified city lawyer.
