
KAMPALA – At least eight radio presenters, who were suspended by the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) in Lira town in December last year, have resumed work.
Jimmy Ohuru Luis Onapa, Rolex Akena Ogwal and Billie Otto, Bob Oyuku all moderators of the popular Yab-Wangi show on Radio Unity were in December last year suspended by UCC for allegedly inciting violence during a protest over the death of a Kole District pupil at the hands of two Indian nationals.
Other presenters reinstated are Charles Ocen and Walter Ojok. Their Yab-Wangi show features discussions on social, political and economic issues.
Other radio presenters who were also suspended from QFM radio include Yite-twolo morning show moderators James Omara Elem, and Ivan Ojok McDonald Ocen. The FM station was also fined Shs10m.
Unity FM director Sam Atul said the presenters resumed work after their three-month suspension ended.
“They (Presenters) are all working now. They resumed work after their three-month suspension by Uganda Communication Commission ended in March,” he said in an interview.
