KAMPALA – Major renovation works at the Chief Magistrates Courts of Buganda Road in Kampala, Mpigi (Central Uganda) and Kitgum (Northern Uganda), have commenced for the first time in over 10 years.
Buganda Road Court was particularly last given a facelift in 2007 ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kampala.
According to the Commissioner for Engineering and Technical Services, Dr. Christopher C. Ebal, the renovation works that commenced on Good Friday (April 19) are expected to take at least 60 days.
He says contractors have been advised to ensure minimal interruption of court operations.
Works will include interior and exterior wall repairs and painting; floor tiling; an overhaul of the waterborne toilets at the courts/plumbing system; electrical repairs; replacement of broken fittings (doors, windows); and compound repairs.
All inconveniences that will be caused to both Staff and other Stakeholders are highly regretted.
