KAMPALA – Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has expressed concern over the whereabouts of Ashburg Katto, a People Power activist.
Katto is said to have disappeared on Thursday, with none of his telephone numbers available since.
“I am very concerned about the news indicating that our friend Ashburg Katto has been missing for a number of days now. Indeed, I have personally tried to reach him for two days now without success. This is worrying, more so after he had been summoned by UCC for his role in running #GhettoTV, which the state is seriously targeting,” Bobi Wine wrote on his Facebook wall on Saturday.
According to Ray Supasta, another People Power activist, Katto was arrested by security personnel on the morning of 2nd May as he was heading to Buganda Road Court for the hearing of Bobi’s case.
“We are engaging a team of lawyers and friends to try and establish where he might be. In the meantime, we request anyone who might know his whereabouts to send a message to that effect. For now, we have been told that he might be under illegal detention by the military, which information we are yet to confirm. But as we know, anything is possible in this country. I implore all of us to always watch out for one another, move in groups especially at night, and keep our close friends informed of our movements- for the days are evil. We shall update you as soon as we have concrete information,” Bobi Wine said.
Police were not immediately available to comment on the matter. Katto is a well-established blogger who has contributed very largely to Bobi Wine’s social media popularity. He also runs Ghetto TV – an online channel that shows what goes on in the Kyadondo East MP’s life.
