
KAMPALA – The Speaker of Parliament the Rt. Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has said she prayed to God to keep her alive.
Hon Kadaga, who was recently taken ill and had to be admitted in a hospital in Nairobi opened up on her prayers while she was sick saying she used to ask God to keep her live to finish a number of duties that were she had started on.
The Speaker was addressing members of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA), who paid a courtesy visit to welcome her back on duty.
The chairperson of UWOPA Pamela Kamugo also Woman Member of Parliament for Budaka District told the speaker that as their patron, there are a number of bills that are backed by UWOPA that remain stalled and that they would need her effort to push for them to be passed.
Among these are the Succession Bill, the Marriage and Divorce Bill and the Sexual Offences Bill among others.
Kadaga assured the UWOPA team that their concerns would be handled expeditiously as the house is headed for a period where most MPs will begin absenting themselves to their constituencies as the pressure for the next general elections mounts.
