KAMPALA – The Telecommunications giants, MTN Uganda woke up to their official Twitter handle littered with pornographic content after unknown individuals hacked the social media site.
The Telecom Company that goes by their handle @mtnug was met with inappropriate content that had taken over pages of its 203k followers with the content indicating updates about sports but the link was accompanied by pornographic content.
The hack that is said to have taken place in the night went on up to around 8 am and MTN confirmed the hack, issued a statement apologising to followers.
“Unknown hackers on the night of 8th May 2019 accessed MTN Uganda’s official Twitter handle and posted inappropriate material and content. The situation has now been contained and measures taken to prevent further breaches. We regret any inconvenience caused,” read the statement.
