
MBARARA – Seven members of one family including a woman and five children have been killed in their house in Nombe 2B village, Mbarara on Sunday night, Police confirmed on Monday.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region Police Spokesperson confirmed to this website that at around 8pm on Sunday a one Lydia Kyomugisha hacked his husband leaving him with serious injuries.
Mr. Kasasira added that she proceeded to another room where she found her daughter only identified as Annet Kyomukama cut her to death before she butchered other five grandchildren that she found in the kitchen.
Police say Lydia Kyomugisha who was also lynched my angry mob, 10 years ago, suffered from mental illness but was treated and healed and has been harmoniously living with the family.
Mbarara DPC SP Gad Murungi visited the scene and condemned the “unfortunate incident.”
According to Police, the deceased include Oscar Tarimweba (5), Mercy Owomugisha (6months), Claire Ankunda (5), Adella Orishaba a girl of (9months) and Apophia Kanshabe (10).
Bodies have been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for postmortem whereas Hangamisho George (husband) is currently admitted at Mbarara regional referral hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
“We haven’t established the motive of this murder but what we have gathered so far is that Kyomugisha has been suffering from mental disorder which we think could have resulted into this act,” said Kasasira.
He further adds, “It’s very unfortunate that the ley suspect in this act was also lynched to death by angry mob but now the investigations are now going to start with those who carried out the mob action.”
