ENTEBBE – An accident occurred last night on Monday 17, June at Mpala Entebbe Express-Highway along Entebbe road.
The accident involved an Isuzu Forward truck with registration number plates; UAY 591W which had three (3) passengers on board.
The heavy truck swerved off the main road. The speeding driver did so in a bid save a Passenger Service Van (PSV) taxi that had been parked on the roadside.
The 3 people inside the van managed to survive and all three escaped immediately.
According to eye-witnesses, this truck-driver was accelerating at a high speed as the driver was trying to spare the taxi (PSV van) that was parked on the roadside.
The van had stopped to load more passengers when the truck’s brakes jammed leading to a crash.
The Isuzu truck tragically ended up in a trench along-side the road.
Police from Mpala and Kisubi zones arrived in time to supervise the incident.

According to eye-witnesses who were present on the scene, the truck was coming from Entebbe heading to Kampala at around 11: 00 pm last night on Monday 17, June.
The Entebbe express-highway despite being a busy road with heavy traffic has got road signs and zebra crossings that drivers must follow but ironically, it is one of the roads that reportedly witness the highest cases of road accidents.
Local residents say that accidents are now a serious issue and regular occurrence along this road and have appealed to traffic police to investigate and remedy the recurring situation along Entebbe road.
Residents along the busy stretch claim that an accident occurs at least once every week.
