
KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has renewed the tenure of Lt Gen Andrew Gutti as the chairperson of the General Court Martial.
Gen Gutti’s term of office had expired on June 9, 2019 but Defence and army Spokesperson Brigadier Richard Karemire on Saturday morning confirmed that Gen. Gutti had secured a new term of office together with 17 members of the court. The 17 include ten officers of the court and seven reserve members.
The officers of the court include Maj Gen. Joseph Arocha, Col. Richard Tukacungurwa, the Judge Advocate, Lt Colonel Medard Bagambe, Lt Col Raphael Mugisha as the Lead Prosecutor, Maj John Bizimana-the Secretary, Maj .Kamanda Silas Mutungi as the Defense Counsel, Capt. Wilfred Karugwara, Lt Faridah Amooti Kiiza and Warrant Officer I, Chrysostom John Kisembo.
The appointed reserve officers include Brigadier George Etyang, Lt Col Henry Nevatone, Lt Col Sadler Katono, Lt Col Lydia Nandundu Lt Henry Bunalema, Lt Fatuma Njutti and Warrant Officer Paul Katende.

Gen. Gutti who has been reappointed for the fourth time has had his plate full in this third term, with the trial of Boda Boda 2010 Patron Abdallah Kitatta, Police officers that were arrested by the army, and are accused of illegally deporting Rwandan refugees and the trial of former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura.
Lt. Gen Gutti was first appointed to head the General Court Martial in may 17, 2016 replacing the late Maj Gen Levi Karuhanga.
He was reappointed on July 3, 2017.
