
NJERU TOWN COUNCIL – Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) together with the community in Njeru Municipal Council have commemorated the World Environment Day 2019 through engaging in extensive cleaning campaign.
NBL also handed over an assortment of cleaning items such as dustbins, rakes, spades, and brooms among others to boost up the Town council sanitation hygiene.
With a focus on water stewardship, Smart Agriculture, Climate and Circular packaging under the theme “Brewing Today for a Brighter Tomorrow” as part of ways to achieve the 2025 sustainable goals.

Mr. Thomas Kampuis,Country Director Nile Breweries said; “The environment is a critical aspect to all of us and the rate at which we are destroying it, the world will be doomed and as a player in the mainstream with most of our resources such as water, agricultural inputs among others we can’t take that as a light thing.”
He further added; “As NBL we are committed to address this in the country and today will be more action than speech.”
Mr Ambrose Ochen, Town Clerk, Njeru Municipal Council delightful said;
“This kind of event should not only stop on this day but let us keep on doing the formidable work so that we can have a better environment in our town council.”

Mr. Peter Tentena, Operations Manager, Eskom noted;
“Life can’t exist without the environment and the continuity of life we must embrace it. We have a slogan of zero harm that is underway and working closely with partners to make it possible and consider the future ”
The day had notable personalities in attendance including the Mayor, Eskom team, Njeru Municipal councils officials, Rotary club of Njeru members, Lord’s Mead Vocational School students and Green Valley Primary pupils that came together for the great cause.
