KAMPALA -The Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi paid glowing tribute to former Prime Minister, Apolo Nsibambi as a man who remained true to his values despite serving amongst people who were corrupt and power hungry.
Joining other MPs to pay tribute to the former Premier during a special sitting, Kyagulanyi said that Nsibambi remained incorruptible and true to his service to Uganda.
“Before us lies a man who was a good man, he represented the best of our country Uganda, he represented decency, service. Even though he served under a regime that was marred with corruption, Prof. Nsibambi refused to be corrupted his name was never heard in any corruption scandal. Even though he served among colleagues who were power hungry, Prof.Nsibambi was never power hungry,” said Kyagulanyi.
Kyagulanyi reminded Parliament of the time Nsibambi begged the President not to appoint him again as Minister having served in the position from 1999 to 2011 saying that the former Premier’s decision was because he believed that leaders serve and must retire respectfully.
“And even though he served under a President that doesn’t keep time and his word, Prof.Nsibambi always kept time and kept his word and said what he meant. We all remember when he castigated the puppets that are around the President but never tell him the truth many of these members are present today,” said Kyagulanyi.
