NAMUGONGO – June 3 of every year, tens of thousands of pilgrims converge at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine in Namugongo, Wakiso District to commemorate the Ugandan Martyrs.
This year’s event is being hosted by the Archdiocese of Gulu under the theme “Obey God always and everywhere” inspired by a scripture from Acts 14:19.
Each minute that passes thousands of Christians flock in from various parts of the country and International pilgrims to reflect and nourish their souls with melodic hythms sung in suprano while others were seen praying and fetching the holy water said to be filled with blessings from the Martyrs.
Several masses were held in different languages all day long to cater for every one.
There was a bee hive of activities ranging from selling food stuffs , soft drinks , religious merchandise among others.
More of pilgrims are still expected to attend the much anticipated Martyr’s day on Monday, June 3.
