
KAMPALA- Makerere University has on re-advertised for undergraduate admissions on its website. The exercise will close on Friday, June 28 2019.
This is due to the fact that some Arts and Science programs received less than the usual number of applicants.
These programs are to be run at all the branches of the University country-wide that include; Jinja, Mbarara, Arua and Mbale all of which received fewer applications from the incoming students.
“The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications from Ugandan, East African, South Sudan and international applicants for the undergraduate programmes listed below under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2019/2020 academic year,” reads the advert on the website.
Eligibility for application
Only candidates with a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes, or its equivalent and at least two principal passes at advanced level (UACE) obtained at the same sitting qualify to join the prestigious University.
For the day programmes, only candidates who sat A’ Level in 2018, 2017 and 2016 are eligible to apply whereas candidates are not restricted on the year of sitting A ‘Level for the evening, afternoon, and external programmes.
For the Diploma holders interested in doing Bachelors programmes, a candidate should have at least a second class/credit (or equivalent classification) diploma or otherwise as specified in the diploma holders’ requirements from a recognized chartered institution, relevant to the programme applied for.
Graduates from a recognized university are also eligible to apply however; they should physically submit their academic transcripts and certificates to Office 315, Level three (3) Senate Building after applying online.

Makerere University on Tuesday 11 June released an admission list with a total of 19,700 students who were admitted to different programs on private sponsorship.
In addition, the list of government-sponsored students who were admitted on the District Quota System was released.
