KASESE – The Rwenzururu Queen Mother (Nyamukama) Her Royal Highness, Christine Biira Mukirania, mother to Bakonzo cultural King Charles Wesley Mumbere and State Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Christopher Kibanzanga dies at 85.
She has been confirmed dead by the Bukonzo Royal family.
The late (queen mother) died Tuesday 11 morning at Kilembe Mines hospital in Kasese District where she had been admitted for a few weeks.
The cause of her death is not yet clear.
Moses Kibanzanga – the deceased’s grandson – declared the late queen mother’s demise at around 10:00 am when he posted the sad occurrence on his social media platform.
The Woman MP of Kasese district has also expressed her condolence to the Rwenzururu Royal family through a social media message that read,
“It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing on of the Rwenzururu Queen Mother (Nyamukama), Her Royal Highness, Christine Biira Mukirania. On behalf of all people from Kasese District, Hon. Bwambale Yokasi Bihande and I, send our deepest condolences to the Mukirania family and the Banyarwenzuru na Banyarwenzuru kali at this difficult time”.
She added that they celebrate the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman who devoted her life to guard, serve and jealously fight for the identity of the Bakonzo.
“It’s unfortunate that she has died at a time when our identity is still under threat, her counsel, efforts and motherly love for Rwenzori will surely be missed Rest in Peace Mukaka of Rwenzori! ,” she said in a post.
