KAMPALA – The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is not happy with the security forces over abducted People Power supporter and Music promoter Andy Mukasa of Bajjo events.
Bobi Wine says that this is a sign of fear and collapse of the regime which is intimidating and harassing everyone who associates with PeoplePower. He says most of their supporters have been illegally arrested, tortured, kidnapped, and shot and that many have been killed.
“Our brother Andy Mukasa, Bajjo was abducted by a section of security forces in a thug-like manner from Mix Lounge, Centenary park while addressing a press conference yesterday. Together with promoter Abtex and other comrades, these friends were announcing a marathon, proceeds of which would support #PeoplePower! This is not a crime!!! The scared and collapsing regime is intimidating and harassing everyone who associates with #PeoplePower! Our supporters have been illegally arrested, tortured, kidnapped, and shot. Many have been killed. But in all this, we shall certainly overcome! I am encouraged by the resilience of all comrades for not giving up the fight, despite all these violations,” Bobi Wine said in a statement.
He said “Since Bajjo’s violent arrest, I have been constantly in touch with our friends back home and our legal teams to try and establish his whereabouts. I have also requested our legal teams to quickly apply to court for an order of habeas corpus to have him produced before court if he has committed any offence. I thank all of you who have championed the campaign to have him freed. Lazima, as morning follows night, the people of Uganda shall overcome.”
The Events promoter and People Power activist was arrested by security operatives on the morning of Saturday 15 June at Mix Lounge, Centenary Park after holding a press conference, he was manhandled and driven to an unknown location.

Immediately after addressing journalist, three plainclothes security operatives and two counter-terrorism policemen pounced on Bajjo, clad in a white t-shirt, and red jacket, dragged him in a waiting white Toyota Hiace before being driven to an unknown location.
“Why are you arresting me, why are you arresting me,” Bajjo lamented, as he was being led to the waiting car.
However, police and Special Forces of Command (SFC) denied arresting Bajjo saying they had no reason.
Maj Jimmy Omara, the SFC PRO said “There is some news making rounds on social media about an alleged arrest of Mr. Andrew Mukasa a music promoter. SFC has not carried out any operation in regard to what is being peddled. This is baseless and malicious. Please ignore it with the utmost contempt it deserves.”
During the press conference, Bajjo and his colleague Abby Musinguzi aka ABTEX revealed that they intend to organise a marathon to help Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to earn money he has lost over failed concerts.
Mr. Musinguzi also said money got from the Marathon will help the orphans whose parents died following deadly violence that ensued in Arua district as Bobi Wine was campaigning for Wadri Kassiano (MP elect).
