MABIRA – Two people have on Saturday, June 22, perished in an accident that happened in Mabira Forest along the Kampala-Jinja road involving four speeding vehicles and two boda-boda motorcycles.
Sources say that scores of people have been critically injured and rushed to Kawolo Hospital for treatment.
However, the names of the deceased and the injured victims have not yet been identified.
According to eyewitnesses, the two people who died on spot were riding on boda-bodas with another group of about 50 boda-boda cyclists to Iganga District, to attend a burial ceremony.
These were riding ahead of a heavy truck on the notorious Mabira Forest section, where most motorists tend to drive with speed.
Sources told PML Daily that the truck crushed the two boda-boda riders beyond recognition before it crashed into a ditch some 50 metres away.
However, it’s not clear on how the driver of the truck knocked the boda-boda riders.
