
MITOOMA/NGORA – Eight people on Thursday, July 25 and Friday, July 26, died on spot in separate motor accidents at Katenga trading Centre in Mitooma district along Mitooma-Rukungiri road and Mbale -Soroti road.
Two lives were claimed on Mitooma-Rukungiri road after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded and overturned after hitting a pavement
The deceased have been identified as Maureen Kyohairwe, the Iganga municipality female youth councillor and Nakigozi Beatrice.
Mariam Nalumansi, Kyobe Ashiraf and one unidentified person were rushed to KIU teaching hospital-Bushenyi-Ishaka in critical conditions.
The five were reportedly heading to Ishaka in a Toyota Premio registration number UBF 786A coming from Kampala.
Kyohairwe, 32, a resident of Walugogo-Iganga Municipality, was the Director – Crocom bridal Centre and Mulungi bridal Centre.
Mbale-Soroti road accident claims 6, scores injured
Six People were confirmed dead and eight others injured after they were involved in a motor accident after the Soroti bound commuter taxi – registration number UBD584R- overturned at Mukura Trading Centre in Ngora district along Mbale-Soroti highway on Thursday morning July 25.
Police has identified the deceased as Fred Yada (taxi conductor) from Nakaloke in Mbale, Naume Amujal, 70 from Mukura in Ngora, Nathan Opio,29, of Bukedea who was rushing for interviews, Eversita Alobo aged 70 from Apac, Anna Mary Akongo,65, of Nyero in Kumi, and a lecturer at Uganda College of Commerce (UCC), Soroti.
The East Kyoga Police spokesperson Michael Odongo said the tyre of the taxi which was over speeding burst causing the accident at around 10:00 am
