KAMPALA – Rev. Canon Aaron Mwesigye, the Director for Religious Affairs in the Office of the President, has Ugandans to stop referring the embattled head of House of Prayers Ministries, Aloysius Bujjingo as a pastor.
Bujjingo has been in the limelight recently after a video clip circulated on the internet depicted him mocking his wife Teddy for suffering from fistula for ten years, an illness Bujjingo said denied him an opportunity to enjoy conjugal rights for a decade, saying a woman bleeding for such a long time doesn’t deserve to be anybody’s wife.
According to Rev Canon Mwesigye, who is also the overseer of all Christian Churches in the country, Bujjingo is a mad man who brings shame to all pastors in the country with his behaviour.
The revelation comes a day after the Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Father Simon Lokodo, revealed that Government is considering closing down Bujjingo’s church-House of Prayer Ministries- that is located in Makerere.
Fr Lokodo made the pronouncement in a media interview with journalists at Parliament in which he described Bujjingo as a fake pastor who isn’t fit to spread the word of God because his own life is devil infested.
Asked whether Government is considering closing the church, he said, “That is already something that is on our mind, we are going to see the leadership of that church which he leads and recommend that he be stopped from administering public church services.”
On Tuesday, the association of Born-again churches said Bujjingo’s recent actions and outbursts about his relationship with his wife do not reflect the doctrine that they subscribe to and promote.
The National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal Churches (NFBPC), in a statement, said that even when Pastor Bujjingo does not subscribe to their association, they said they feel that the matter relating to him and his wife has escalated to a level that concerns them as a body of Christians.
They said they tried to intervene and counsel him on how to handle his marital issues but he has defied them.
