KAMPALA – along with the Ministry of Works and Transport, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has on Thursday commenced a series of engagements with key stakeholders about the proposed Statutory Instrument for Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) restriction as part of the plans to regulate their use in Kampala City.
The main objective of this Instrument once passed will be to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion in the City.

Its components emphasise the need to comply with the provisions of the Traffic and Road safety (weigh-bridge) Regulations 2010.
“All goods vehicles using city roads shall comply to permissible gross vehicle weights, permissible axle load weights and permissible vehicle dimensions in accordance with Traffic and Road Safety (Weigh-bridge) Regulations 2010,” said KCCA in a statement.
