TORORO – Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga over the weekend joined the community of Kalachai in Apetai Sub County, Tororo district to fundraise for the construction of St. Gregory Catholic Parish Church.
The cultural and political leadership asked Hon Kadaga to ensure that the London report on the boundary map is made public, a request she promised to follow up.
“I asked the Minister to address members about the report but she declined. I will put the government on pressure to make the London report public,” she said.
Hon Kadaga also re-affirmed her support towards resolution of the Tororo Municipality boundary conflict between the Iteso and Japadhola.
She was concerned with reports that the Itesots had threatened to shun civic activities, if they are not granted a district, a move she said will be detrimental to the development of the country.
The Speaker together with the State Minister of Health for General Duties Sarah Opendi and several MPs, raised over UGX 15m shillings.
She asked the community to contribute generously towards the construction of the church.
She also promised to follow up on the provision of water and electricity in the area, as well as write to the Education ministry to address the issue of nonexistence of a secondary school in Apetai Sub County.
