
JINJA – The Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is set to hold the 27th Source of the Nile National Agricultural Show that will take place at the Show Grounds in Jinja district from 12th to 21st July 2019.
Speaking to journalists at Uganda Media Centre on Tuesday, Hon Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, the Minister for MAAIF said that this show offers a lot of opportunities to the participants and allows one to learn of equipment and agricultural methods to apply on the farms.
“It is the reason why most of the participants usually come back every year. This Agricultural show attracts over 300,000 guests yearly, making it the most attended show,” said the minister.
The 10-day exhibition, organized by the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) in partnership with MAAIF will provide farmers, agro-industry players, service providers and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector the opportunity to showcase their innovations and technologies as well as engage in business networking.
The minister also said that the Show will bring together agricultural scientists, small and large commercial scale farmers and stakeholders and service providers from across the value chain.
He said, “The Show will provide an all-round platform to network, market and share knowledge on how to best harness the power of technology in agriculture and ensure the best outcome for farmers’ produce.”
MAAIF Departments, Projects and Agencies will be showcasing cutting edge research products and services provided in collaboration with various sponsors, partners and stakeholders.
The organizers have confirmed that many companies that deal with agricultural machinery have already signed up to be in Jinja for ten days.
Mr. Ssempijja revealed that the countries that have confirmed participation and will have pavilions to showcase their technologies include Poland, China, Egypt, Germany and Kenya.
The Source of the Nile National Agricultural Show is the largest of its kind in Uganda and is an annual event that has been held since 1990 and attracting an annual average of 350 agricultural exhibitors from different parts of the country and beyond.
It is the biggest platform for showcasing Agricultural innovations and exchange of knowledge.
