MAKERERE – Makerere University has on Wednesday, July 3 started issuing out the provisional admission letters for students who were successfully admitted on Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses for the academic year 2019/2020 which is to commence on August 3, 2019.
Admitted students are to collect their provisional admission letters from their respective colleges.
According to the University, students are required to carry their previous school identity card and ‘A’ level result slips in order to receive the admission letters.
However, Diploma holders and mature age entrants will pick their provisional letters beginning on July 9, 2019.
Recently, the University’s office of the Academic registrar released all admission lists of students admitted for the academic year 2019/2020.
Among the lists included, Bachelor of Education (External Degree Programme), Government sponsorship Undergraduate, Makerere University Private and District quota.
Mature Age Government sponsorship and International Undergraduate Students lists were also released.
In June, news circulated on various media platforms indicating that the University had asked the new entrants to print out their provisional admission letters.
The reports also stated that the academic institution was to hand the fresh students their official admission letters upon completing the tuition dues.
This was claimed to have been aimed at reducing the costs incurred in the printing process by the University.
However, Makerere University trashed allegations and defended itself on its Twitter page by tweeting:
“We have not issued any official communication regarding the issuance or printing of admission letters. We encourage newly admitted students to keep calm as they wait for official communication from the university, via our social media pages and website.”
Finally, they have posted on their official twitter handle calling upon students to pick their admissions.
Fees Structures have also been compiled by the Academic Registrar’s Department and University Finance Department and delivered to the respective Colleges/Schools and Up-Country Centers.
