
KAMPALA – After spending three weeks at Luzira prison, Music and Events promoter Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo’s has finally been granted bail.
The trial magistrate at Buganda Road Court, Ms Stella Maris Amabilis has granted Bajjo a cash bail of Shs4m while his sureties have been bonded with Shs20 million non-cash.
Ms Amabilis has also ordered Bajjo to return to court on July 25 for the mention of his case.
Bajjo’s lawyer Erias Lukwago among the grounds of having him granted bail included; he has a fixed place of abode, he is the sole breadwinner of his family, has a right to bail, he has abdominal complications among others.
Bajjo is facing charges of incitement of violence against the person of president Museveni due to his political opinion.
He faces charges offensive communication in which prosecution states that with an intention to disturb the peace and privacy of president Museveni, without any legitimate purpose recorded a video using his mobile phone containing messages threatening to overthrow the government of Uganda before the year 2021.
According to the charge, Bajjo allegedly incited the public to do an act of violence against the president in this month of June while at various places within Masaka, Ibanda, Mbarara and Kampala districts.
Bajjo was arrested by security operatives immediately after a dressing a press conference at Centenary Park in Kampala with fellow music promoter Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex about the cancelled shows of Kyandondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine.
