
KITGUM – Thousands of people including the Deputy Speaker of parliament, Jacob Oulanyah have converged for the 2019 Irene Gleeson Memorial that is currently being held in Kitgum district.

The annual walk honors the life of Irene Gleeson, an Australian philanthropist who dedicated her life to transforming the lives of children in Kitgum.
This year, the walk is aiming to raise funds to support the construction of the Irene Gleeson Memorial Library and Youth Training Centre.
The event is also graced by State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Okello Henry Oryem,
Arch. Bishop Emeritus Luke Orombi Ambassador to People’s Republic of China in Uganda, Chen Huixin and Charge D’affairs of Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Banda Mohammed Alfaifi, MPs CD Lowila Oketayot and Molly Lanyero; at the IGF Charity Walk 2019.
“For the last 6 years, we’ve carried on Irene Gleeson’s work of answering to the call of equipping underprivileged children with food, water, medicine and education” said H.E Chen Huixin the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda.
