
MASAKA – Masaka Diocese is in an upbeat mood ahead of the installation of the new Bishop, Rev Msgr Serverus Jjumba.
Organisers say that all is set for consecration of Rt. Rev. Jjumba, the incoming Bishop of Masaka Diocese at Sports Arena – Kitovu.

Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa currently serving as the Diocesan Apostolic Administrator says they expect the event to be attended by over fifty thousand (50,000) invited guests from Uganda and beyond.
Masaka Catholic Diocese is an ecclesiastical Province of the Catholic Church in Uganda.

Bishop Jjumba before his appointment to the Prelate of the Catholic Diocese of Masaka by the Pope Francis, served as Vicar General.
He is moving into footsteps of His predecessor; Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa who clocked his retirement age recently.
His resignation was accepted by the Holy Father, according to Uganda Episcopal Conference, the umbrella organization of all Catholic bishops in Uganda.
Bishop Kaggwa has served the Diocese for 24 years.

Rev. Msgr. Serverus Jjumba was born on July 2, 1962, in Katinnyondo – Kyanamukaala Masaka and was ordained a Priest on June 20, 1992.
In 2002, he was appointed as a treasurer of Masaka diocese and in July 2014 he was elevated to Vicar General.
