KAMPALA – An actress with the Ebonies, Sulayina Nangendo, alias Princess Becky Jjuuko, on Tuesday apologized to the Pornography Control Committee over her leaked nudes.
Princess Becky, who features in the Ebonies drama series ‘Oh My God’ and the music shows, told the Pornography Control Committee (PCC) chairperson, Dr. Annette Kezaabu Kasimbazi, that the nudes, which appeared on social media last week, were leaked by her ex-lover who she said is outside the country.
She explained that she felt embarrassed seeing her naked photos circulate to the public through social media. Princess Becky advised young girls to think before they do anything. She regrets that this was done out of excitement and never thought it would end up in public.
Dr Kezaabu said they don’t intend to prefer charges against the artist since she is remorseful. She said they will instead try to rehabilitate the actress, saying the committee doesn’t want to see women being objectified; saying most of the leaked nudes are for women
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the actress has recorded a statement.
The pornography law provides a maximum sentence of 10 years and or payment of 10 million Shillings upon conviction.
The 26-years old now joins the list of 2019 nude victims like, Martha Kay, the online comedienne who is currently in hiding after her nudes were leaked allegedly by her boyfriend. Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday remanded two men for allegedly extracting her nudes that they circulated on social media. The duo is Herbert Arinaitwe alias John Paul, 27, a businessman in Rubaga division and Farid Mukiibi, 34. In a session presided over by the Chief Magistrate Ms Miriam Okello the duo denied charges ranging from aggravated robbery, demanding property with menaces with intent to steal and cyberstalking.
The others are Shawula Kasule, the Supreme Mufti’s daughter, whose nudes leaked during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Others who passed through the same experience include Cindy Sanyu, Robina Mweruka, Maama Fiina, Judith Heard, Anita Fabiola, Zari among others.
