
HOIMA – Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has fronted Ms. Nyakato Asinansi Kamanda as Hoima District Woman Parliamentary candidate in the impeding by-elections.
Ms. Nyakato is currently serving as FDC National Executive committee (NEC) member as National Secretary for Health.
She is also a former Secretary for health on the FDC National Youth League executive committee (2011- 2015)
She is an astitute grassroot mobiliser and communicator in Hoima District.
Officials in the party confirmed that she will be nominated as a candidate on August 28, 2019.
“She is the joint opposition candidate following other forces of change endorsement of her candidature,” Mr. Walid Mulindwa, the FDC youth wing chief mobilizer confirmed.
Ms. Tophace Byagira Kaahwa, who was the Woman Representative of Hoima district, recently opted to represent the newly created Kikuube district, creating a vacancy in her constituency.
Hon Kaahwa who is under the NRM political party was previously serving in Hoima district as a Member of Parliament but she finally decided to serve as Kikuube Woman MP.
Kikuube district which was carved out of Hoima was made a district and became effective on July 1.
Last week, the Electoral Commission approved the programme for the by-election of District Woman Representatives to Parliament for Hoima and Kaabong districts and elections in Lower Local Government Councils in the two districts.
In the programme the by-election will take place on 26th of September however candidates who will be nominated have been warned against holding processions and urged to only campaign in gazetted areas only.
