
KAMPALA — A senior Inspector in the Ministry of Local Government has been arrested on orders of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) over alleged fraud in connection with stealing and causing financial losses to the government of UGX 29M
Mr. Moses Byanguye, an official of the Ministry of Local Government was on Thursday morning by arrested Inspectorate of Government.
Ms. Munira Ali the Public and International Relations at the Inspectorate of Government confirmed that Mr. Byanguye will will be arraigned in the Anti-Corruption Court at Kololo over corruption-related charges of illicit enrichment and stealing.
It is alleged that Mr. Byanguye, between the months of February and May 2015 while employed as a senior Inspector of local Government Kampala while in the performance of his duties irregularly paid UGX4950000 to Christopher Magezi, Abdul Mugalu and Charles Namansa with knowledge or reason to believe that his act would cause ministry of local government financial loss and indeed causes financial loss to of UGX4950000.
Its is also alleges that Moses Byanguye, between February and May 2015 while employed as a senior inspector in the ministry of local government, Kampala stole 23,410,000 being the property of his employer to which he has access by virtue of his office.
The IGG also contends that Mr Byanguye between February and May 2015 while employed as a senior inspector in the ministry of local government charged with the management of IGX 23410000 for capacity building of local government public accounts committee on the 25th August 2015 and and 9th September 2015 knowingly furnished false accountability for 23410000 to the undersecretary financial and administration ministry of local government.
