
KAMPALA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs alongside the Diplomatic Community in Uganda will participate in the forthcoming 8th Edition of the Rotary Cancer Run 2019.
The announcement was officially made by Hon. Okello Oryem Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs) while Meeting a Delegation of Officials from Rotary Uganda.
The Ministry made a cash contribution of Ugx 5,000,000 million towards the cause.
This year’s Run will take place under the theme “Keep Running” and will take place on Sunday August 25 2019 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
Hon. Oryem stressed the need to be innovative while fighting the scourge of cancer. He reiterated that the basic cause of Cancer is vested in our culture as a people and we need to review our way of life.
This year’s run will be personalized to the Ministry and Members of Staff will run in memory of Colleagues that have passed on due to Cancer. Members of the Diplomatic Corp, Heads of Missions and International Organizations accredited to Uganda will also participate in the Rotary Cancer Run 2019.
The Minister also welcomed the Proposal for Participation of Uganda’s Missions abroad and noted that it can be promoted through Rotary’s strategic engagement of Ugandan Diaspora in their various Associations to moblize Ugandans abroad to actively participate in this Noble cause.
