
KANSANGA- Kampala International University (KIU) has once again been ranked the best private University in Uganda and number 217th on the African continent by Webometrics.
In the Janaury ranking, KIU was ranked the best private university in Uganda, taking 206th in Africa and 109th in Sub-Sahara.
The July, 2019 edition has also indicated that Kampala International University is maintaining its position as the best University in Uganda.
Webometrics is a system for the World’s Universities based on the volume of the Web content and visibility and impact of their web publications.
Now, based on the above qualifications, the organization ranked KIU the leading private university in Uganda, 217th in Africa.
Globally, KIU has been ranked in 5917 position.
Other private Universities that followed KIU include; Uganda Martyrs University at 271, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) at 275 and Uganda Christian University (UCU) at 287th.
Without categorizing them in private and public Universities, KIU has taken the second position following Makerere University which is in the 1st position in Uganda.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) is ranked 50th, while Kyambogo University stands at 176th position and Gulu University at 184th position in Africa.
Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year and data is collected during the first weeks of January and July and then released to the public, covering more than 28,000 higher education institutions worldwide.
Recently, KIU teaching hospital was ranked among the best health teaching schools in the country by the Ministry of Health.
The rankings that were made for the 2017/2018 financial year were based on indicators such as deliveries in health facilities, staffing levels, service delivery, and tuberculosis detection rates.
According to these rankings, KIU teaching hospital contributed passionately to health service delivery in Bushenyi hence emerging the best in Western Uganda.
