KAMPALA – Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been dragged to High court by a one Ntege Farouk for illegally terminating his contract.
According to Mr Ntege, he is a member of the Kampala District Land Board who was appointed by the Kampala Minister on a five- year tenure in February 2016.
However, the Lord Mayor terminated his membership in a letter dated August 12, 2019.
“I am still a member of the Kampala District Land Board a constitutional body established to look after public land in Kampala with a valid running tenure expiring on February 1, 2019, and the second respondent’s letter constitutes a big threat to my holding and continued occupation of the said office is not restrained by an interim order, ”Ntege said.
Mr Ntege, through his lawyers of Nabukenya, Mularira and Company Advocates has sought orders from the high court to stop Mr Lukwago from terminating his contract as well as forcing him to apply for a job that is apparently vacant.
He claims that the letter Mr Lukwago is against the provisions of the law, illegal and riddled with procedural impropriety.
The court is set to hear the application for the interim order today, Tuesday before the main one is heard later on.
Kampala Capital City Authority is also attached as a respondent on the suit.
