
KAMPALA – Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has recruited nearly 100 personnel in the new financial year 2019/2020.
The development is aimed at increasing UNBS’ coverage across the country to enhance service delivery.
While opening and closing their three-day orientation at the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) main hall, UNBS Executive Director Dr. Ben Manyindo urged the new employees to raise the UNBS flag of excellence high and keenly uphold the bureau’s core values; Professionalism, Integrity, Customer focus, Innovativeness and Teamwork.
Different unit heads also shared with new employees the functions of different departments that make up the bureau and their roles towards standards development, promotion and enforcement.
These include; The standards department, Import inspection, surveillance, legal metrology, National Metrology Laboratory, ICT, Public Relations and others.
The new recruits took the oath of secrecy in the presence of the UNBS Executive Director, Ben Manyindo.
UNBS is a statutory body responsible for developing and promoting standards, quality products and services to facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.
