NAKASONGOLA – A Kampala-Gulu bound bus belonging to Opit Travellers Ltd has on Saturday afternoon overturned around Migyera, in Nakasongola district along Gulu-Kampala highway amid heavy downpour.
The driver of the bus, Reg.No. UBE110H Isuzu L/Green is on the run, police said on Saturday afternoon.
“The same was carrying members of church of Jesus Christ Latter saints Badege Gulu branch who were heading back to Gulu from Mukono where they had gone for a conference,” the police said in a statement.
According to the police, 12 people sustained injuries and were rushed to Nakasongola health center and St. Francis Migyerachospital for treatment.
Mr Geoffrey Lakwo, a member of staff at Opit Travellers Ltd confirmed to this website by telephone that there were no reported deaths.
“Yes I got a call that our bus overturned and I am trying to find more details but preliminary informatin says there is no death,” Mr. Lakwo said.
