KAMPALA – The public has reacted with consternation to a video of a young girl drinking beer and demanded police action against the parents.
In the video, which is circulating on social media, a girl, probably three years, is seen seated on the mother’s lap drinking from a bottle of Club beer.
While the faces of the parents are not visible, the video has attracted countrywide condemnation given that beer is supposed to be taken by people over the age of 18.
Kastar Joanah wrote on her Facebook wall: “Child abuse, I wish these people would be caught together with the mom and be taken to the university of understanding. This little girl needs a loving and caring family.”
Nangendo Hellena said: “This is really sad. They need to find her parents and take the child to a better home.”
Bukirwa Shamim said: “This is very sad, they need to take that child away from those devils. She is in danger.”
Paul Ayebale. “Actually I wouldn’t mind that much to some point but I imagine such a person being my daughter in law in 20 something years to come”
Nansumba Walda said: “They are training her for future detoothing. The perfect training for a future slay queen. If a parent reaches this extent, there must be something extra she does to this child, probably she books men for her as well. Police must intervene.”
Musoke Robert Matovu said: “Someone out there knows her mother, someone out there knows who recorded this video, please hand the bastards to the Ugandan police.”
Missy Prissy said: “Some parents are a disgrace and not responsible.” Kyazze James said: “I wouldn’t be bad giving your child to taste any alcoholic drink but why in camera and all that much in the first place, to bad and illegal or child abuse, most drunkards of the time were not trained by their parents as well.”
Police spokesman Fred Enanga was not immediately available for comment.
