KAMPALA – Former Blue3 singer Jackie Chandiru, who was on Monday reported to have escaped from a drug rehabilitation centre, has resurfaced.
Chandiru was on Monday evening pictured with events promoter Balaam Barugahara. Mr Barugahara said that Chandiru was picked from Naguru hospital by one Ruth of Recovery Solution Treatment and Counselling Centre.
“Jackie was picked by Ruth yesterday in a sorry state but she is now re-sustaining and she will need our support mostly financially where she needs to see a counsellor every month and this will cost a minimum of 1.5 million,” he said.
Sources have also confirmed that Chandiru had not escaped from Naguru hospital but was only transferred to the volunteer’s home since money is not available for her treatment.
Mr Barugahara appealed to the public to support the faded artiste for fresh rehab.
“Anyone with any financial assistance should contact Pastor Wilson Bugembe as he is in charge of each and every contribution for better accountability.”
Chandiru disappeared from the music scene about three years ago and was in rehabilitation because of drug addiction. She surfaced on the scene on scene early last year at King Saha’s Biri Biri Concert. It was before the show that she talked to the media and said she was back to reclaim her spot as one of the best female singer and stage performer in Uganda.
