KAMPALA — Traders are counting losses after property of unknown value was destroyed in an evening fire that started at a Kireka furniture market on Friday evening.
According to area residents, the fire whose cause is yet to be established, began at around 9pm and spread fast into the adjacent shops where it consumed more furniture.
“The firefighters started arriving very late. Lots of items had been burnt out,” an alleged eyewitness posted on Facebook.
Phillip Okot a student at Kyambogo University says that a number of Furniture workshops in Kireka have been razed to the ground by fire.
The workshops are located opposite KFC Kireka.
