KIKUUBE – The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has on Sunday, September 8, advised Kikuube residents who want one of their sub-counties; Buhaguzi to be curved out to form a new district to submit their request through the district leadership.
Ms Kadaga made these remarks while she was presiding over a fundraising and groundbreaking ceremony for Kigaaya Archdeaconry in Kikuube district.
“I was glad that residents together with area Members of Parliament are spearheading fundraising for construction of the Archdeaconry, the current structure being old,” Kadaga said.
She was moved by the reported insecurity in the newly-created district which has been characterised with cattle theft.

“I am however moved on learning that locals are living in a fearful environment of theft of household items which is worsened by cattle theft. I pledge to engage the Inspector General of Police to beef up security in the district,” she said.
Adding that, “Cognisant of the insecurity episodes we have witnessed in the past two years, I think we need to be more security conscious. We need to remind ourselves of security precautions we can take on a personal level.”
The area MP, Daniel Muheirwe and Kikuube district woman representative, Tophace Kaahwa also attended the ceremony.
