
KAMPALA – Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa will head a committee that will organise the enthronement of the new Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rt Rev Dr Samuel Stephen Kazimba.
The committee was inaugurated by the outgoing Archbishop, the most Rev Stanley Ntagali, on Friday 20th September 2019 at the Church of Uganda’s Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe, Kampala.
The organising committee is comprised of Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala, Kampala minister Betti Olive Kamya, Planning minister David Bahati, Lady Justice Hellen Obura, Retired Bishop Joel Obetia, Nakasero Hospital’s Dr Ben Mbonye, Bank of Uganda Governor Prof Tumusiime Mutebile and Reknown Banker George William Nyeko among others.
Archbishop Ntagali appreciated the members for accepting God’s call to serve on the committee.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms,” He said.
“Take heart because you are not only serving an institution but more importantly, it is God that has mandated you. This form of service as officials of the farewell and enthronement organizing committee is a God given task,” he added.
Ms Nakabirwa appreciated the Archbishop and the Provincial Assembly Standing Committee of the Church of Uganda for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the organization of this historic event.
She attributed her service in all church activities to God and promised to deliver great results in the given period of time.
“Anything to do with serving God, I will do. I can never turn down God’s call to serve His people and to do His work.” She said.
Several committees, including health, invitation and protocol, works and Transport, Worship, Finance, Security, Publicity and Mobilization, Resource Mobilization, Welfare and Venue were formed in that meeting.
Ms Nankabirwa said there is still more room for people to serve on the above committees and announced 4th October 2019 as the date for the next meeting at the Church of Uganda’s Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe at 2 pm.
